About CAREFUL
Careful Hand Laundry & Dry Cleaners Limited has been in business
since 1929. We are a third generation family owned and managed.
Careful is the business person’s garment care specialist of choice in
the GTA. We have earned this reputation with superior care and attention
to every item that comes into our possession. We take great care of your
business attire. Armani, Hugo Boss, Jones New York, Canali, Anne Klein and
Burberry are just some of the labels on garments received by Careful
to clean. Courteous and informative staff forms the backbone of our
operation. We all strive to provide a rewarding and pleasurable
experience for our customer. We have four locations as well as pickup
and delivery service in the city of Toronto, Richmond Hill and Thornhill, Canada.
Careful and our directors have always been leaders in the garment
care industry, and its directors continue to serve as media contacts,
participating in informative interviews on local news segments like
House & Home on Global television and W5 on CTV. Two of Careful’s
officers have served as President for the Ontario Fabricare Association
and both Sidney Chelsky and Brian Chelsky were honoured with the Muriel
and Mike Harris Award from the Eastern Canadian Launderers and Dry
Cleaners Association for their commitment and service to the textile
industry. Brian Chelsky was awarded the Order of OFA 2004 from the
Ontario Fabricare Association, “in recognition of the highest level of
individual excellence and achievement in the garment care industry.”

Careful has treated its staff with the highest respect and
provided all employees with a good working environment. As a result,
most of the employees have been with the company for more than 15 years.
The new plant at 2700 Dufferin Street, unit #52 received an award from
the American Dry Cleaners magazine, "Best Build Out" award.
Careful has been inspected by many levels of government to ensure
compliance with laws and by-laws affecting the cleaning industry and the
environment. Careful has been inspected by the following branches of
government and has passed every inspection from Toronto Water, the
Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s Environmental Swat Team and
Environment Canada.
In fact, some government agencies have used Careful as a model of
how an excellent dry cleaner should operate. Our company uses state of
the art (5th generation) dry cleaning machines. There is no loss of
solvent to the atmosphere. Spill containment is around the dry cleaning
machines to protect the soil and groundwater. Careful was part of
Environment Canada's Green Clean Project together with eleven other dry
cleaners who worked with the Federal Government to reduce their
dependency on perchloroethylene.
Attention to detail is apparent in our product. Shirt collars and cuffs
are hand dipped in starch on request and all garments are hand finished.
Garments receive three levels of inspection. Finished garments are
packed with tissue to prevent creasing during transport. A thick garment
poly bag is used to cover finished garments. Free minor repairs are provided
to the customers.
In our continuing efforts to improve our environmentally responsible
initiatives and to minimize what goes into landfills, Careful now
offers re-usable garment bags for packaging most of its on-hanger clothes.
You can also request reduced packaging when we return your garments to you, as well.
The solvent is filtered and continuously distilled ensuring clean
solvent is used every time. Fresh detergent is
automatically added to the solvent to enhance its cleaning ability.
